Hello
Hello all,
I'm a do-it-yourselfer and found this little community almost by accident and said to myself "I really need to check this out!" as I'm always needing some specific or special tool to get any various jobs or projects completed and a lot of times find myself either improvising or making a tool to finish the task. I weld, grind, file, and sometimes even cast or forge the parts and pieces needed in order to do, what I need to do. I'm always trying out, and learning new stuff, and hope to add to my knowledge base, and maybe even lend some here.
Thanks,
IronPig

Hi IronPig - welcome to HomemadeTools.net :welcome:
Glad you found us! What's next up on your projects list? Can we help out with any ideas?

Thank you for the Welcome...
What's up next? Well, I've just acquired all the materials I'll need to mold a small refractory furnace using a half sized oil drum, refractory cement, and I'm going to try and cut a lot of the weight by adding pearlite to the mix. I shouldn't suffer any thermal quality by using the pearlite, in fact I'll probably gain more insulation by using it. I've made small coffee can forges using it and plaster of paris to line the forge and could easily bring small pieces of steel to welding temp, yet still be able to handle the outside of the can. Probably gonna start on it this coming Sunday after breakfast.
