Hello
Joined the site today although I did visit a few weeks ago.
Retired engineer in UK but selling up to go to Oz to join our daughters.
Started life as an Apprentice Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic as I love working on stuff with my hands (Dad was disappointed as was my school teacher)
Rose through the ranks to become a Fleet engineer then into sales (Road, Airfield, Pavement, Military Sweepers) prior to retirement.
As my day job became less and less "hands on", I built up a home workshop to become self sufficient in restoring and repairing old cars, old trials motorbikes so have Lathe, grinder, bench drill, MIG welder and spray painting gear.
Got rid of bikes and cars whilst waiting to emigrate when I hope to build up my collection again.
Workshop kit will go with me as it's not that abundant in Western Australia.
Love the idea of home made tools, currently modifying my home gym equipment using metal from old tow brackets, bits of bed frames and wheel bearings from a wheelchair.

Hi Gongon,
Welcome!
Sounds as though you've enjoyed a long and interesting career. Moving your entire workshop to the other side of the planet is going to be a challenge and a huge life change - Best of luck!!
When you're ready to share some of your own homemade tools, we'd love to see them. Please post them directly in the Homemade Tools subforum. We'll add each one to the database, as well as to your builder page on the site.
Non-tool items should be shared in the Not a Tool, but Homemade subforum.
