Glad he escaped that one. Think he recalls "do not silhouette yourself" yet; you know boot camp and infantry school 101?
Just lucky that he was dropping away at the time of the shot.

I bet that still rung his bell. Glad he's ok.
I have so many questions about this. If this is real, I give my apologies to the solder, and I am glad he survived.
However;
1. Don't soldiers typically have identifying insignias on their uniforms? I see none in the video.
2. Is he firing his weapon? There is no muzzle blast disturbing that soft looking dirt/sand in front of his weapon.
3. What direction does the shot come from? His reaction makes it appear the shot comes from his left. The "smoke" cloud is larger on the his left, if the bullet came from the left, the most "smoke" would be to his right. If you page through frame by frame, you can distortion as you would expect from a bullet coming in from his right, as indicated by the arrow in the frame capture.
4. About 4 frames prior to the apparent "hit" there are 3 frames so distorted that everything goes blurry. Is the camera at the sniper position? Did the snipers shot shake the camera? If the camera is at the sniper position, the shot would have come from the front left. Yet the helmet strike is in back of the helmet.
I admit this is all speculation, but it appears fake to me.

Possibility of fakery is huge, yes. Meanwhile, it can be very difficult to sequence speed of light, projectiles, direction and sound in a video.
Which makes fakery so prevalent.
So how did they get someone to risk getting a cap popped in their direction?
There deserves to be mention of the Warren Commission in such examination of film evidence.
Not sure if it's a video game sequence, judging by the lack of identification on the soldier, the effect of the recoil and fuzzy image at the point of firing it would lead me to believe video game. I'm not sure even the newest, best games add in the deformation of the right side of his helmet. You can see it react to the impact then change shape and stay that way until the guy puts his hand there. The shot would have had to come from somewhere to his left but not likely the location of the camera although a glancing blow from that position could have the same effect and explain the reaction of the cord that flies up. Kind of with Saltfever on this one. I've already spent too much time analyzing... Out!
Why was there a videographer in front of the soldier?

Snipers often record their shots for verification. However I still believe this is faked or edited to appear as it does. We can no longer believe everything we see or hear.
It is usually the spotter who does the recording for the sniper and often the spotter will be some distance away from the sniper for a better vantage pointQuote:
