When I worked at a museum we would cut the heads off various diameter pins and spin them in to different substrates to mount objects for display. Some more modern drill chucks didnít close down small enough for the pins. I have a chuck like this which worked with drill or impact driver for the purpose.

I can understand using such a chuck in an electric DRILL; in fact, I've done it myself for the same reason - drill chuck won't close down on small drills.

But my question concerned the jobs that required such a chuck in an electric SCREWDRIVER. Screwdrivers are geared down too far to be much use for drilling so what is the use of the chuck?
