Hey from Hoss
Hey folks,
My nickname is Hoss, I've been building my own stuff since I was a kid. I was a machinist by trade but taught myself all about the world of CNC the past several years by building a few machines for myself. I have a website for my first about my X2 minimill cnc build here. Hossmachine Homepage. I moved up to the now popular G0704 the minute it came out at Grizzly in 2010. g0704.com. I have several other machines, a highly modified 7x10 lathe, a grizzly G0602 10x22 lathe, an RF45 clone mill and built a couple of 3D printers as well. These builds have been documented on my sites and on my Youtube page, please check it out if you're interested. http://www.youtube.com/hossmachine
Thanks, Hoss

Hey Hoss - welcome to HomemadeTools.net :welcome:
I thought I recognized that site :) We have a dozen of your homemade tools indexed in the encyclopedia: Homemade Tools from hossmachine.info. Nice to have you here :hattip:. Let me know if we're missing any listings.
Feel free to add your site link to your forum signature so people can see it when you post.
So, what's up next on your projects list?

Thanks a lot Jon I'll do that.
I've had a laser attachment project for the g0704 I've been meaning to get to. ;-)

Hi Hoss,
Welcome - glad to have you here! :welcome:
Nice site and some great tools you've got there! What are your thoughts on the current state of 3D printing technology? On the home shop level, is it useful for anything beyond unstressed prototyping? Fascinating stuff…

I've made lots of brackets and mounts that are still in use 3 years later. If you use a heavy fill pattern (75% for me) they can be quite solid and durable. Of course as a prototyper it has been very valuable too, I use a light fill, 25% just to test fit a project.
I have a big thread here if it's allowed to link.

Hoss glad to read your areas of play. There's knowledge in your corral I can stand to learn from. Welcome here from another newbie...seems like a nice place to get assistance and share ideas. I have an old Bridgeport Milling machine I could use help with if I keep it.
