    Hobby fabricator wannaby bladesmith

    Hi all
Been lurking on Homemade tools.net since the start and never really bothered to figure out how to post on a forum.
Be patient with me if I do something stupid. I have a good mechanical background from when i was young, but have been working as an Insurance broker for the last 30 odd years. Been making a few knives long ago when still working as tool and jig maker. A friend showed me to make folders.

Went for a week long bladesmith course at Mastersmiths Kevin and Heather Harvey with a good friend in December 2014 in Belfast South Africa. Been building all kinds of tools and equipment since then to enable my bladesmithing aspirations. Tools that I have built include the following:- Beltgrinder with different tooling arms, disc grinder from my metal lathe's old reversable motor, two knife vises, double burner freon tank forge, vertical postbox style forge, charcoal forge from a firebox of a sauna that I have demolished etc. I will post some pictures once I have figured out how to do that.

    Hi Paul,

    Welcome!

You have been around since the early days; glad that you decided to say hello!

I'm looking forward to seeing your work. Photo posting isn't too difficult, but can be a little tricky. Have a look at this short video for a quick explanation:
