While this isn't something I would build, I can appreciate the effort that went into building this machine.
The main upside is that if a lathe is definitely out of site with a budget or even available, then this is a viable option.
Even if it is nonprecision by machinist standards, there are still a number of parts that could be made.
I do wonder about the rigidity of the tool post holder, but that could be updated as necessary.
