Homemade Grinding Drum

I made a simple homemade grinding drum and used this to finish the machining of a steam cylinder saddle.



Lots of cutting oil was used with wet and dry abrasive paper.

The mandrel was made from a bolt and the drum from an offcut of hardwood. I use Evo-Stik impact adhesive to stick the paper to the drum.

I should say that this approach also works very well for sanding wood. I then tend to use them in a pillar drill and setup a stage on the table at the correct working height. I will try and get an image to share.
