I watched very careful to see whether he was wearing protective sandals as well as the other gear!

I would be more interested in seeing how fast his electric meter is spinning

My first thought was is he really going to do a pour wearing shorts?
I've had close enough calls just casting aluminum and burning the tops of my boots!

Yes, on two separate occasions, using a gas axe, something I have very seldom done, I had a droplet penetrate my jeans, and go under the welt of my boot. Silly not to have worn spats, (not possessing them), although I did wear an apron. If I’d worn sandals, I could easily have kicked them off and stood in the slack tub! But now I have stigmata on both feet.

If you want a real quick lesson of what not to wear try overhead welding while wearing a shirt that has polyester in it

While welding I leaned back not realizing that moved my apron back against my leg. Yep, hot steel goes through a sock pretty fast.
When I KNOW I'm going to be covered in hot stuff I wear all flame retardant clothes AND extra layers of protection. I'm the one furthest from the camera, the guy behind me is to put out flames, drag me to safety if needed, and have a spare light.
