I don't have any pictures but I made a glass grinder for a friend using an old desk, a 14" diameter aluminum cutout disc, couple of bearings, pulleys, and one of those Consew motors. I put the smallest pulley possible on the motor and something like a 10 or 12" on the table shaft.
Made a nut a couple of inches in diameter that was cone shaped with a couple of flats on the sides.
Put disc in metal pan with a hole in the bottom, a piece of PVC pipe glued to the pan as a dam. Solder a copper tub to the pan for a drain to a bucket.
Drop on a 12" diamond disc, turn on to a comfortable speed and from what I hear it's been running great for a couple of years now, making glass items they sell.
Thanks jdurand! I needed to polish samples for metallography, but to use the laboratory, I needed to schedule and get in a long line. I did it offhand at my house, now some colleagues send me their samples so I can do it myself.
