My dad made what was probably the first flexible drive extension ever.
back in the early 1950s about the time I was born according to what an uncle told me years later about the time my dad needed to get at a nut / bolt or some fastener at an angle that a universal joint type extension was not handy to use so he cut a 1/4" drive extension in half then brazed in a short length of cable.
