Thanks Jon, I'm sure that's simple enough for some folks..... I however,am an old guy who's still quite impressed with the touch-tone telephone..... Ill give it a try when I'm finished with this project. I having seen any done quite like mine. I hope it works out.
Hi Jarhead5963,
Welcome! :welcome:
We're looking forward to seeing your truck crane. If you need more help posting photos, just let me know (in this thread is fine for the sake of simplicity) and I'll get you squared away.
Ken
Thanks. Will do. It'll be a few more days
Looking forward to seeing that truck crane, Jarhead5963. Welcome to the forums! :welcome:
Might get more done on it today. It's raining cats and dogs so I guess I've got no excuse. Better use today, my wife has me pretty well busy with her priorities for tomorrow. You guys may know what that means.
I took my crane to my bro- in-law Carl. He's been a professional welder to most of his life. His advice and welding expertise was much appreciated. We mounted the crane on the rear of my flatbed dodge 3500. The winch I ordered from Northern Tool should be here mid-week along with a couple sheaves from Grainger. Meanwhile, I'll put a nice black paint job on it to match the bed and take a break for weekend football. Maybe I'll be able to get some pics on line then.HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!
Here are 2 quick youtube videos...obviously the winch hasn't been installed but this is what it looks like on the back of my truck. I took an engine hoist rated a 4.25k and mounted I on a Chevy truck axle I picked at junkyard. Made a housing to fit the race and cut the axle then snugged it up in the bottom of the housing. Ordered a 4k# ATV winch with brake.

Thanks, I'll let you know how things work out once the winch is put on.
I wasn't gonna put anything on here til I finished with the winch, however, my son-I n- law was here for thanksgiving and he's a tech whizz so I got him to post the vids. He's gone back to Savannah now so ........no more vids. Thanks for putting up with me. This is a really cool site.
