    OK, Tony - I got it - I won't "force-feed" you!

Back on topic: I surely hope Mr. DK DIY don't have his workbench grounded by a starter cable,
whilst continue fingering his still ungrounded vibrating contraption with the live AC wire dangling around.

-It's more better to get a mere humorous BPM award from me, than achieving a fully justified "Darwin Award"!

    Cheers
    Johan

    Sound advice.

BPM award winners are opportunists taking advantage of this wonderful forum. They don't deserve your kindness.

There are many DIY vibrating style tumblers on the net but the one that I like the best is the one by "Let's make it extreme" it is at

It is larger than anything that I would want but the idea could be scaled down easily. It is certainly not the easiest design to make, but it is technically the best design that I have seen. I like easy as much as anyone but I generally put better above easy.

Many designs rely on putting an out of balance mass on the motor shaft which is easy but I often wonder how long the motor bearings or motor shaft will last under that king of loading. The Make it Extreme design uses an eccentric bowl actuator shaft mounted in substantial bearings and the motor is further protected by a belt drive. I think that with a scaled down version you could lose the belt and couple the motor to the working shaft through a misalignment coupling.

Not for very long, no... I made a Q 'n D green sand sifter with a salvaged 150W DC motor which held up for abt half an hour before the endbells fatigued into oblivion.

BTW: The Ichiban ("1st" in Japanese) Moto "promo" of mine isn't in any way meant to put your eminent site 2nd!!!

I doubt if anyone thinks that was your intention.
