Homemade Wind Turbine
For those interested in making your own wind turbine and generating electricity I put together a tutorial on my adventures. This tutorial covers all the topics needed to do this at home, including setting up a grid-tie inverter.
The tutorial is here.

Thanks imsmooth! I've added your Wind Turbine to our Electrical and Generators categories, as well as to your builder page: imsmooth's Homemade Tools. Your receipt:

Looking good imsmooth. What's the output? Were you able to meet your target output?

Speaking of wind turbines, I remember a setup I saw online, which consisted of an array of small turbines about the size of a desk fan. It was supposed to span across windows of apartment blocks. I've yet to see that design on this site.

There are a pair of varied turbines [geographically separated] that are a different 'spin' from the horizontal axis propellers commonly seen.
I'll hope for photo weather, and add them to this post soon.
I'd describe each as turbine, [vice propeller], one is vertical, one is horizontal. Vertical example is something like that leading this thread.
Horizontal version has vanes or 'scoops' that introduce airflow to entire 180 degrees windward, then push backside of fins, while free to rotate about it's post to seek and align with incoming breeze.
If possible, contact with engineers of those buildings might relate the performance of the units...
