Sometimes it seems Ai is nothing but a means to create fake things. Other times AI appears to a tool for lazy people to advance their academia. I have begun to notice Ai being used by writers in an effort to make an otherwise short boring story to become a much longer even more boring story.
Lawyers are starting to use AI to dig up previous court findings and using those as a precedence to further their narratives.

Maybe AI has some actual real world uses in developing new technologies or materials, but it has become a powerful medium which can be used nefariously by persons with the lack of a moral compass.

I can see the potential for new materials, medications, medical treatments, energy production, etc. Lots of other potential that we can't know yet. On the other hand, in warmaking it will lead to more efficient methods to kill. It could be difficult to know if someone's musical or writing results are from talent that they have or just AI which anyone who knows how best to utilize it will fake all kinds of things.
Stupid is forever, ignorance can be fixed.

I don't believe Ai as we know it now, will be around for very much longer. Artificial intelligence is just that artificial. Advancements are being made daily with human neurological interfaces helping people who have never had sight or hearing to see and hear people with severed spinal cords learning to walk with the assistance of neuro implants. in order for AI to ever become more than just the sum of trillions of transistors performing complex learning algorithms biological interfaces will eventually become the norm. It will no longer be the WOPR asking Mathew Broderic Shall we play a game, or Data's l positronic brain earning to sing. Maybe it will be something like Johnney Mnemonic but using Elon Musk's neurolink technology.
