Honeywell once owned and operated a huge ammunition plant just outside Minneapolis. I remember driving past that plant and being amazed at the scope of the place, stretching hundreds of acres. Honeywell sold it off in the early 1990's, because the CEO's wife got arrested at a local anti-nuclear protest, and she didn't like her husband's company profiting from war-things. The spin-off created Alliant Tech Systems (ATK), which has become a major force in military weapons development.
