    If so that would be a 4 start left hand thread with inconsistent pitch and pipe wrench gashes in the thread peaks.

    I am glad I don’t have to machine the nut that fits it.

    I have seen that done with square stock on decorative iron work. The video looked pretty good the first turn to. But after that it lost any of the “good look” it started with.

    It is either merely a demonstration, or, possibly, for forging out and etching, which might show some striations, but for good effect you would want to two contrasting iron alloys. This is sometimes what knife makers do. After 2 revolutions on that short piece, it becomes aesthetically unpleasant, in my view.
