It would be interesting to know how the doubled bill sensor works. Maybe shining a light through the bill(s) and detecting the lower intensity when two bills are present?

Also, what does it do when a doublet is detected ?

I've never experienced an error from an ATM. Which is good, since one has no recourse if it were to happen. I can just imagine going into the bank and asking them to take my word for the fact that the machine only delivered $80 when I requested $100.

Yeah. The thing is, if it errored on your transaction, it likely would have before, or will soon again. I used to work on paper-handling gear, and found that the mis-picks generally travel in packs.
