HOW TO CONNECT A 3 PHASE MOTOR TO A SINGLE PHASE

Steinmetz wiring is an easy way to connect a three-phase small electric motor to a single-phase supply under conditions using the appropriate capacitor. The engine must have a power of one horse (736 w) max. We lose about 30% of the rated power and 70-80% of the starting torque than we would have if we used a three-phase supply. It is recommended for devices that do not require a large starting torque such as fans, pumps, etc.
