Not widely used, but a great machine tool. At 1:33 is an "Arter". What's odd, Arter is known as a vertically rotary tabled grinder, with a right angled spindle, not a vertical lathe. But it trims the spun discs perfectly and centered, with female/ male form chuck. Earlier in the process a circle shear does the job, but the blanks are still flat.
