I assume those are vacuum lines but I can't see him activating or releasing them.

He activates it with a switch at the back of the unit (black box). Subtle quick movements like he has done it a couple of times.

Duh! I went back to check what odd one said and realized when I originally saw the vid I had my computer on mute. Hearing the pump makes it obvious.
Another senior moment.
