Can't recall making anything with precession as a goal, being that it counters logical mechanics in a way. But to accomplish even cooking it's critical. Intuition said an uneven tooth count was needed to cause precession, untrue; only needs uneven ratio. Your combination of 8 tooth ring and 6 tooth spur are 1.333/ 0.75. That appears ideal.
Don't know anyone with a laser? While there are many options, beating the rounded gear form (nodes?) is a challenge. None come to mind so easy to clean after use.
