Those tough plastics result from products made for severe institutional use, such as prisons. Also found on military ships, for entirely different reasons; they clean easily and do not burn, emitting toxic fumes.
For many products, thermo-set is still superior to thermo-plastics.
I have my grandmother's 'pyrex' measuring cups and blue flower corning ware ten piece set that she apparently bought when they landed here from Poland in the late forties, I use the stuff just about daily and it still looks like new.
