    Cool. I do a lot of work in commercial fishing and I've never seen this. I don't recognize these types of nets. What are they used for?

    Have to be for a pretty big fish though! Being long and relatively narrow a gill net maybe?

    Probably. It's just biological. Every square centimeter of the ocean floor is covered with the exact same stuff. I don't think there are any viable commercial uses for it.

    I think the nets are a means for the weed to grow on and the weed is what is being harvested. Look in the back ground and see all the net floats. Also notice the floats are on both sides of the net making it float horizontal to catch better sunlight.

    So algae farming? After looking up uses for algae, I'm not surprised! Every thing from rocket fuel to food coloring to all kinds of pharmaceuticals and food stuffs. Pretty amazing.
