When I was 12, in '65...Dad gave my my first lesson in business. He arranged for Coke to set up a machine at our family's lumber yard. He co-signed a loan with the local bank for $550 to buy a 'new' Coke machine, 2 flavours, 6 oz cups, syrup + soda water. 10c a cup. He would bring home the coins, I'd count them, make out the deposit slip and he'd bank it. I wrote/sent the checks to Coke for supplies. Used to make about $20-30 a week! Which was big dosh for a 12 year old...When my sister and I cleaned out mum's house after her passing in 2002, amongst a LOT of early life memorabilia, was a small box with the checkbook and a heap of invoices. Good onya Mum!! Thanks for a memory lane trip...
Jim
