helped my dad put chains on the family car in 1958. It's one of those THINGS you never forget.

On a much smaller scale/note; I was cleaning up a popular park in Noosa after a circus had left when was asked to extend the park boundary back amongst trees for better shade during the really hot times. I encounted a metal banding cutting through my large rear tractor tyre sidewall=new tyre was a total writeoff. The banding was a new green colour freshly cut so had been left in the long grass by circus personnel, but I was at a loss to understand what they had banded. The metal framework of the tents? Nowadays banding is usually a polyester like substance.
