Intro
Been in metal work 43 years now, welding, fabricating, machining, precision sheetmetal, and more. Ran my one man machine shop out of my garage full time 20 years. Married a lady in Australia, packed up and moved 3+ years ago to rural NSW. Sold all my machines there, only recently finally got all my tooling shipped over. No shop to play in yet, working on that. Nearing retirement (I hope), no budget to be buying lots of commercial machines, so will be building some myself. Look forward contributing, and checking out others projects.

Hi janders1957 - welcome to HomemadeTools.net :welcome:
Sounds like you'll fit in well here. What are your plans for your shop?

Hi Jon,
Initially finish some projects that have languished for years. I started putting a shop together for hobby, circumstances led me to go into business, so had little time to play. Will be finishing off some tool projects, and trying to acquire a lathe at the least, hopefully a mill too. Would like to build a few steam or hit 'n miss engines,
and custom photography gear. Longer term, well, I'm 60 and presently building tray backs for utes. Don't think I'll be able to do this the 10 years I figure I need to keep working, so longer term, I plan to semi-retire into side work. There's not much in the way of machine shops in this rural ag region, and very likely nobody with anywhere near my background. Hope to get into restoration and repro work for classic cars, motorcycles, old machinery.
