My intention is to stay busy, build stuff from scratch as much as possible, reuse old parts and pieces for my projects.

Hi Jon - welcome to HomemadeTools.net :welcome:
What are your interests? Any specific projects caught your eye?
Hello Jon, you've come to the right place for ideas, solutions and tinkering projects. Welcome to the forums! :welcome:
I'm interested in the usual guy stuff, fishing, hunting and so on, currently, I'm interested in learning how to use a metal/wood lathe, scroll saw, 14'' band saw and router. My intention is to build tools that I can from the experience of others that I need to help me create stuff for my friends and family. All tools are so expensive and I have a limited budget, so I'm building what I can.
An example:
I purchased a 1936 woodcraft table top wood lathe for $10 bucks and re-mounted the head and tail stock/tool rest to a wood base.
I'm currently working on slicing wood logs length wise and carving/scrolling the fields with a scene that is relevant to the person or friend I would like to make something for

So, that's all for the time being.
Hi Jon,
Welcome! :welcome:
Lots of tinkerers hereabouts, that's for sure!
Nice to hear that you've given some new life to a vintage tool. I'd love to see pics of that '36 lathe in use…
