Looks to me like it would have a tendency to slip backwards due to the off axis lift? My standard trolley jack can even do this. My preference is a bottle jack as they always have a vertical loading, sadly most cars are too low these days to use one.
I love this idea. I've seen a few similar to this and I am looking into building one as well
This is a nicely made and well thought out design with a decent under vehicle reach.
The only thing that concerns me is those small wheels bearing down on drive pavers which can tip or crack so easily, usually laid on compacted sand. I would still use an axle stand once up before going underneath, as i am sure he does.
Olderdan it appears to me that the positioning of the small wheels would allow them to touch the ground only when the jack is lifted by the handle.
I like that it has the removable rubber pad and is pretty much designed to lift the car by the pinchwell which is where most of the newer and smaller cars are raised from now days.
