Jewelers Hand Vise looks very nice. I could certainly use one. I usually improvise (pun intended) and use a toolmaker parallel clamp.
This style of vise is known as a Lowell pattern vise. Its main advantage is a death-like grip, especially on wire (a hole through the handle and cone allows it to accommodate long pieces). The price one pays for that grip is a very limited jaw opening.
Jewelers and folks like me who work with tiny parts usually have a variety of hand vises of different styles to satisfy different applications.
The take away here is: If you're going to have only one hand vise, give some thought to the jobs to which it will be applied and base the design on that.
