Tap handles are one of the first basic tools I used to teach guys to make on their own.
Here is one that either I made or one of my apprentices made about 30 odd years ago
Nothing special just a couple pieces of 1/2" square Key-stock a couple of 1/4" bolts and wing nuts rubber grips and a notch filed into the Key-stock. Normally they would takes about 5 to 10 minutes to make one.
