Kick down door stay
After having to replace the cheap stops every year I decided to make a fit and forget one.
This is for an outside door exposed to the elements so I threw some metal at it, a piece of conduit tube and a piece of channel from the scrap box means it will now outlast the door (and me).

olderdan,
Nice job on the construction and I wish I had seen this sooner. I have something similar, a steel commercial product, on my interior door leading into my shop in the garage. My dogs would used the plastic door wedges as chew toys and the only solution was to install a kick down door stay. So far the dogs don't know how to release the door stay and they can't destroy it :).
Regards,
Paul Jones
