This is a good idea, anything to improve ladder safety can only be good. What I like is that it addresses the act of stepping off and on to a surface without the ladder slipping sideways, always a danger moment especially when carrying something.

Bet it leaves two nice dents in the roof, especially on a warm day.

It would be good to take a board with you to put under the clips.

Agreed it could impact on a felt roof but only if the ladder is footed on soft ground in which case a plank would be better of at the foot of the ladder. It is meant to be a stabilising attachment not load bearing. Shouldn't be too hard to make something similar if so desired.

Often where I work the wind can blow ladders away from a roof, I could see how this could help with wind also. One time the wind blew the ladder sideways off a barn roof and onto my truck, broke the mirror and later the windshield cracked. I wanted the truck close for efficent access to tools and there were limited choices of where to park. In this case the rafters were soon exposed so the ladder got tied off after that. With out a spot to tie to these hooks would help. Also would help prevent the bottom of the ladder from kicking out. I like em.
