he was doing so well until he used a knife. FAIL on aerospace and other high rel. Any nicks on the conductor is a reject.

For smaller electronic wire I have a thermal stripper that was rescued when the Shuttle program ended. Even has a semi-hobby looking dimmer type temperature control in place of the power plug. VERY handy for things like PTFE insulation, which is why I originally got it.

It goes with me to our new shop.

Thermal would be tops, but just another stripper like he used on the outside jacket. Precision depth of cut, then peel off metal. Whatever you use, no damage to the metal allowed.
