A laser alignment tool for the milling machine or drill:
Low cost for the parts, some simple machining that took me around 2 hours from scratch and I have an alignment tool that takes away a lot of the messing around, more details on the page here: Laser Alignment – glue-it.com
Like you I made one inspired by Dan Gelbart also. I didn't go looking for ways to do it, I just happened across Dan's site by accident and what a find that is.
Unlike yours I made the angle of the laser adjustable, which enables me to get the circle diameter that I want from any height of the quill. I also made it to clamp onto the outside of the spindle so that I can still use the mill with a tool.
Anyway rather than hi-jack your post with details I'll describe it in a separate post.
