    Emco Compact 5 cnc, that's a throw back in time, not many left by now. I've got the manual version that came complete with the vertical milling attachment, useful size between an Unimat and a full on workshop lathe.

    I don't mean this in a derogatory way. Why do you need bedway protection? I've used my lathe, (one of them) for many years without it and it hasn't experienced any damage. Enlighten me. I just don't see the need for it if reasonable care is taken. Same for leadscrew protection. Mine still works as it should.
