Lathe chamfering tool

Shim seats are used under the carbide inserts to prevent wear on the toolholder. They absorb vibration from the insert during cutting. The seats can be replaced when worn instead of replacing the toolholder itself. For maximum rigidity a seat screw is used to secure the insert together with the clamp.
