Makes threading soooo easy and accurate on the lathe when I don't want to single point them.
It is all made from hot rolled steel. Several adapters for dies and two tap holders that were
made by Stanley I believe. I made the handle a bit too large and it weighs a ton but it works great.

really cool! could you post some pics of how the adapters mount on the tool please? Or is there a tap holder already in place?
The hex die holder is a nice addition. I don't think making the die/tap handle too large can be a problem with these types of tools. The more to grip the better when the tommy bar is not needed. Thank you for the posting.
Thanks for all the nice comments. I have two more pics to add for mattthemuppet and anyone else looking for more info. The round die on the table is just to keep everything from rolling!
Basically they just show the "order of operations" when assembling the tool with various adapters.

thanks John, I get it now - the tap holder is itself held in an adapter that goes in the main body. Very neat. How much travel do you have on the body? This is something I've been thinking about making for a while!
The shaft is 4 5/8 inches long so you could run a die over a good distance, say about 3.5". Shaft is .500 in diameter so you can go long with pieces up to .500" inch in diameter. I have found that I like to start the die on the lathe and then remove it and use a die holder if it is much over 3/8 inch in diameter. It is a good accessory to have for the lathe.

After making a new set of holders for my Sherline bench top lathe I decided to modify my orginal
tapping tool for the 7x16 mini lathe.
This tool was just a bit large for my little 7x16 mini lathe. Just a bit too long.
Not much to the mod but it just feels better and I now have a nice 1" long x 1 5/8 diameter blank
that I will use to make a quick drill guide.
So I just cut off 1" from the main body and even more from the MT2 adapter.
I removed 1 3/4" from the straight end of the shaft.
Not a big deal but it just seems to fit the little 7x16 better.
