How worn out is unknown, but degree of non-appreciation is clear. It's a modernized shop with so much square footage to waste? Anywhere else, there's a cut open barrel or somebody's old BBQ. Outside with a picnic table.

How much does a henway? How long is a henway? Are they hardened henways?

It’s rotating too fast for a spit. Think it’s all a fake, fake fire and chickens cooked somewhere else before transferring to lathe.

I need a bigger lathe, mine can only do the game hens, maybe a few quail.

I only have 1 lathe that will turn that slow but you could roast a pair of 2000 lb steers on it
