    Captain Leeward,
Very neat looking installation and easy to see from the controls. Where did you locate the sensor on the spindle and did you use a Hall Effect or the optical type of sensor?
    Thanks, Paul

Hi Paul, I don't know what you call it was a wheel that was divided with slits and a magnet device that went on ether side of the wheel? but some times it gets grease on the sensor and won't work so I have to clean it with a cotton swab. I did just about every mod I could find on the internet to this lathe HF 9x20 . it has worked over ten years with out any problems it just keeps going and going. I am sure you have had better equipment to play with ?

Thanks for the explanation and I now understand the type of tachometer you added. Like you, I started with an import lathe (mine is a 7" swing lathe I bought in 1993 from a Taiwan importer) and over time added more features, realigned the headstock and tailstock, improved the motor controller, added Hall Effect tachometer bought on eBay, ER25 collet chuck, DRO, etc. and it just keeps going and pretty accurate for what I need.
