Lathe Tool Organizer MT2 and Mt3
I had a compact space that I wanted to use for storing my often used
Morse Taper tools. This board works perfect. Mine was made from some
poplar I had in the shop. It is about 32 inches long and 3.5 inches wide.
The slots were cut so the taper would slide into the slot if it was held up
to about the 50% point on the taper. I could have just drilled holes but
the limited height available would not have allowed all of the MT2 chucks
with bits in them to fit. The back end of the slot is just large enough for
the large end of the taper to fit so the tool will not tilt until I lift the
tool out of the holder. Two coats of marine varnish finished it off.
The holes were milled for a tight fit at the 50% point on the taper so
the part would not fall through. The intent is to only store Mores Taper
centers or short drills in these so they don't need the extra height that
the slots provide.
The entire board is secured with 3 long wood screws that fasten into
the wall studs.
