    Lead sheet casting

Sand casting lead sheets, for use as waterproof roofing material. This type of roofing can last centuries, and is now used for repairs on existing lead roofs of very old European buildings.

I wonder if those sand casting guys are working over time since the fire destroyed the Notre Dame Cathedral in April. All of the lead from that roof, melted and running down into the ashes. What a mess, and a tragedy.

Or, will they have to use more environmentally friendly materials?

Similar to how lead sheet is made for pipe organ pipes. Except for organ pipes they cast it on a smooth table. I've seen marble a few times. Molten metal is always cool.
