I believe the first scene was done apurpose as the guys all had a poop eating grin.
I've noticed that an engineer with a good throttle hand can catch it within one revolution.

I agree the first video was intentional for dramatic effect the 2nd was the engineer catching the spin and feathering the throttle to prevent it.
Electromotive engines certainly have sufficient torque to spin the wheels when starting from a dead stop even without a film of lubricant, But grease on the rails by kids? Hum maybe, I wouldn't put anything past kids, and I've seen kids do a lot of crazy things, as kids we used to place a line of copper penny's on the rails then try to find the squished flat shapes after a train sailed past, rarely ever found any
But railroads porously grease the rails in certain places
