    I made one (though not as nice as yours) but I added an additional counterbored screw in the middle of the movable piece to prevent/counter act any lift. It seems to make the grip more secure.

    It does lift a little but I avoid that aspect of most vises by giving the work a tap with a mallet once clamped.

    I've used it several times now and I've found it to be quite handy.
    If you can't make it precise make it adjustable.
