I’m thinking about using this technique to make adjustable downcomers in my reflux still. That way I can raise the liquid level in the reflux chambers which will lower the output Alcohol By Volume but increase the flavour carryover. At the moment I have to take apart all the glass chimneys and add a short piece of copper pipe, but with a magnet drive system, I should be able to adjust them without opening the column.

Three years design and build. She has two more of the “porthole” chambers and a 1m reflux extension, but with the glass chambers added in, there’s no room for them under this roof.
That should make some tasty hooch, perfect for making schnapps if you can hold the alcohol to the mid-scale. Low percentage schanapps of around 18% is a good taste bud cleanser like wine for before dinner, but on the higher end of the spectrum in the 45 to 50% range would be more for after dinner like a good brandy.Quote:
