    That's a beautiful piece of work but an important property of an anvil is mass. You can never have too much. Other than shaping the working area to suit the expected work I'd never machine away anymore than absolutely necessary.

    Jon, that is very nice work. It appears you have some time on that machine. The anvil has nice lines and interesting machining. Like the feet. Any jeweler or builder of fine tools would find it very useful. Good work.

    Very cool little anvil. Agree about over machining, mainly the base didn't need nearly that much taken out, but still super cool regardless. Not to mention it probably needs heat treating as well. All in all that would make a very nice bench top anvil for detail work.

    how big is the anvil? and weight? It is beautiful but how many of us have a set up like yours?. I notice the size of the machines and the shop.
