Way cool!
Two questions:
Why are the joints just lashed and not glued?
What is the skin material?
It gets sewed and it cuts with a hot knife . . . nylon?
-
The skin material is fiberglass cloth

<< Why are the joints just lashed and not glued? >>
If you were to "glue" the joints, say with epoxy, they would be awfully rigid and brittle. By just lashing them, they are flexible and can "give" making them much more forgiving. Also, although this probably wasn't much of a consideration, this construction technique is closer to how it was done originally.
