Making A Grooving Tool

If you own a Quick Change Tool Post, you are very close to having a nice grooving tool. All you need is a length of broken hacksaw blade and a piece of scrap aluminum bar.

Thanks Rick, that will work great for small snap rings - o-rings, sure will beat grinding one from a solid bit

Great idea Rick. Your choice of mounting the blade tooth side up was also great as hacksaw blades are generally differentially tempered.

How do you "lop off" hacksaw blades?

It seems that you would have to temper it but then you lose the hardness in your cutter.
It appears you put some heat to the smooth side. Was that to lop or to put in the relief?
