    Hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder rods are often hard chrome plated. There are some steels that contain "chrome" or chromium if you will, some of which are referred to as stainless steels.

    By the way a nice little video that highlights why a lathe can be so handy. Most people would put a bolt in the tap holder or throw it out. Instead you made a proper replacement handle. Nice work.
