Hi All
How I stop thin Parallels falling over in the vice and other advantages.
I find this a real help when loading and unloading stock from the vice. It also ensures the parallels stay upright and less chance of swarf finding its way under the parallels. I have a selection of paired different length springs so I can quickly change the setup for different width material.

If you don't have the correct size springs easily to hand, a strip of sponge or synthetic foam works well too.
Most of the time I use a dab of cutting oil on the parallel and adhere it to the vise jaw.

Springs fly out sometimes when squeezed too much, so be careful and wear eye protection. I always make my thin parallels (1/8") oily and they stick to vise jaws.
